The list is the recipe.
Most recipes fail at the shop, not the stove. A list of twenty-two ingredients scattered in no particular order turns a twenty-minute dinner into an hour-long errand, and half of what you buy gets used once and forgotten at the back of a cupboard. CookedMeal starts from the list and works backwards.
How we test
Every recipe is cooked at least twice, start to finish, on an ordinary home stove before it is published. The first cook finds the problems; the second confirms the fixes. Times come from a kitchen timer, doneness from a thermometer, and yields from actually portioning the food.
What makes a recipe fit here
- Eight items or fewer. That is the shopping list, not the ingredient list — oil, salt, and pepper are assumed, and anything you almost certainly own is listed separately as a staple.
- Sorted by aisle. Produce, chilled, frozen, pantry. One pass through the store, in the order the store is laid out.
- A swap for everything. Every recipe lists what to use instead if the shelf is empty or the cupboard is bare, and says what changes when you swap.
- No single-use ingredients. If something would be bought for one recipe and then sit unused for a year, we find another way.
About the domain
CookedMeal.shop is a recipe website. Nothing is sold here, there is no store, no checkout, and no affiliate links in our recipes. The name refers to the shopping list, which is the thing this site is actually about. Where advertising appears, it is clearly marked and served by third-party ad networks rather than by us.
Who writes this
Home cooks on ordinary budgets in ordinary supermarkets, not chefs. If a recipe works on a four-burner stove from a short list, it goes up.
